Macroinvertebrates at McCarran Ranch
Sierra Nevada Journeys is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that delivers innovative outdoor, science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and to inspire natural resource stewardship. In 2015, Sierra Nevada Journeys partnered with Truckee River Guide to share data, artwork and stories of their classes explorations at McCarran Ranch Preserve.
Explore the Data
Groups from Sierra Nevada Journeys visit McCarran Ranch during the spring and fall, collecting data on macroinvertebrates, tiny organisms that live in the river. This data can be used to assess the health of the Truckee River ecosystem. Stay tuned as we see how these numbers change over time!
